Cecil Fevrier
Biography
Born on the Caribbean Island of St.Lucia, the St.Lucian landscape has been Mr. Fevrier's main inspiration as a visual artist.
Photography became his main avenue for visual expression from about 1990. In that decade he won a number of local awards for what was then film-based photography, often with a distinctly painterly style. A number of his creations blurred the lines between painting and photography - often similar in effect to what is achieved today via digital means.
Today Digital is his medium of choice, though he occasionally uses medium format film, enjoying a few characteristics which he exploits - for effect.
Along the way, he continued to nurture a childhood interest in painting, mainly in oils. Now he splits his creative time equally between the two visual genres.
Mr. Fevrier has had two solo exhibitions, (2000), and The Romantic St.Lucian Landscape (2018). He has also participated in several group exhibitions alongside other local artists.
While formally educated in science Mr. Fevrier has always equally enjoyed the duality of the structured nature of science and the relative freedom of artistic endeavour.
In 1997 he established The Photoshop, a St. Lucian business focused on commercial photography and the production of photographic prints of the highest quality, for both the general public and visual artists. The long serving establishment operates out of the J.Q Charles Rodney Bay Mall in Gros Islet St.Lucia and leads in the variety and quality of photofinishing services offered on the island.
